Over 600 fire incidents in Metro Manila from Jan. to Feb. 2015 –BFP
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has recorded a total of 615 fire incidents in Metro Manila in the first two months of 2015.
Of these incidents, 18 people were killed and 46 were injured, according to a report on GMA News TV's “Balitanghali” on Monday.
BFP said the following were the top causes of fire incidents:
-- Problems with electrical lines - 162
-- Lighted cigarettes - 77
-- Unattended fire sources like candles and cooking stoves - 70
March is Fire Prevention Month. For the entire month, the BFP has lined up activities on fire safety awareness.
However, the first day of Fire Prevention Month started with a fire destroying 13 houses in Cubao, Quezon City.
A day before the start of Fire Prevention Month, Malacañang reminded local government units and the public to do their part in preventing fire incidents. —Trisha Macas/KBK, GMA News
